A process is disclosed for preparing peroxidic perfluoropolyethers containing perfluoroalkylenoxy units (CF2-CF20) and (CF20), which is characterized in that tetrafluoroethylene and oxygen are reacted in a solvent at a temperature not exceeding 50.degree.C and in the presence of one or more compounds having one or more F-X bonds, in which X is selected from the group consisting of F, O and Cl.
