PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp lighting device capable of keeping a constant optical flux immediately after turn on by sufficiently securing a preheating time at the time of lighting, and providing an oscillator for controlling the level in such a manner as to prevent a stress from being exerted on filaments of a light emitting tube so as to reduce the number of parts and a packaging area. SOLUTION: A fluorescent lamp lighting device includes a first switch M1 to be driven by inputting a pulse on a high voltage side from a drive signal generating circuit and a second switch M2 to be driven by inputting a pulse on a low voltage side from the drive signal generating circuit. The first and second switches M1, M2 are connected in series. A first capacitor C5, an inductance element L1 and the second switch M2 are disposed between terminals on a high voltage side of a pair of filament electrodes in a light emitting tube 4.
