PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an intermediate transfer system device that is free from image quality defect such as a void even in the case of the consecutive formation of images such as multicolor patches in the form of 6 mm square, by setting the volume resistivities of an intermediate transfer body at specific application voltages so that they satisfy specific conditions. SOLUTION: The relationship between the volume resistivityρv1 of an intermediate transfer body at an application voltage of 10 V and the volume resistivityρv2 of it at an application voltage of 100 V is log (ρv1/ρv2)<=2. In the device, an electrostatic latent image of a first color is first formed, and the electrostatic latent image is turned into a toner image T made visible by a developing device 5. By the rotation of a photoreceptor drum 1, the toner image T reaches a primary transfer part where a conductive roll 25 is disposed, and by applying an electric field having reverse polarity to the toner image T from the conductive roll 25, it is electrostatically attracted and primarily transferred to the intermediate transfer body (transfer belt 2) rotating in the direction of the arrow B. Thereafter toner images of second color to fourth color are formed in the same manner and superimposed one on the other on the transfer belt 2.
