PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing 5-(1-propynyl)isoxazole derivatives and 5-[1-(cis)-propenyl]isoxazole derivatives as key intermediates for producing active compounds including agrochemicals and medicaments. SOLUTION: This new compound is represented by formula I [R1 and R2 are each a 1-4C (halo)alkyl), e.g. 5-amino-3-methyl-4-(3-methylisoxazol-5-yl) isoxazole. The compound of formula I is obtained by the following steps: an aldoxime modification of formula II is reacted with a halogenating agent in an inert solvent to form the corresponding halide of formula III which, in turn, is subjected to a base to form a nitrile oxide modification: R2C≡N+O-, which is then reacted with a cyanomethylisoxazole modification of formula IV.
