PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method providing an automatic gain control in a receiver for a dynamic system. SOLUTION: A receiver automatic gain control part is provided with variable gain receivers 304, 308 and 312 having control inputs and adjusting the output level of the receiver in response to a gain control signal. A controller 114 is connected with the variable gain receivers. The controller monitors the quality of a received signal and the power level of the received signal. The controller generates a control signal controlling the gain of the variable gain receiver as the function of a signal quality and a power level. The controller controls the gain as the function of the power level of the received signal and selectively controls the gain as the function of the signal quality. |
