PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exert the vertical correction effect of a product code as much as possible and to perform vertical error correction even though searches are performed as many times as in the conventional practice by performing searches so that a vertical search period can not be overlapped with the preceding search period. SOLUTION: Search timing is controlled so that overlapped periods can not exist from the viewpoint of a data vertical direction among a search circuit temporarily searching many stations, a data period corresponding to search time to other stations and further, a data period corresponding to the preceding search time. A search control circuit 101 inputs a frame leading signal FL-CK, the number M of block search times designating how many times searches to be finished within one block are performed and the number N of frame search times designating the number of search times within one frame, synchronizes with the signal FL-CK and starts an actual search function. Also, search operations are controlled with the numbers M and N.
