PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid an image defect companying the local speed change originated from driving system of a transfer/transporting belt. SOLUTION: In this image forming device provided with an image carrier 1 on which visual image (for instance, toner image) is formed, the transfer/ transporting belt 2 being hung around plural extending rolls (for instance, 5a and 5d) arranged opposite to the image carrier 1, and a transfer device 3 making the visual image on the image carrier 1 transferred to the transfer/transporting belt 2 directly or across transfer material 4, the device is allowed to make a stretching roll 5a located in the vicinity of the transfer region by the transfer device as the driving roll 6, and to provide a tension reducing mechanism 7 making the tension of the transfer/transporting belt 2 being located between this driving roll 6 and the transfer region by the transfer device 3 locally reduced.
