PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and efficient interface system for connecting an optical communication device to the core of an optical fiber fixed by an optical fiber connector and a method therefor. SOLUTION: This system includes an face plate 35 placed between the optical fiber for connection and the optical communication device. The face plate 35 includes a plurality of optical fiber segments 42 placed like an array. The diameter of the core possessed by each of the optical fiber segments 42 is made sufficiently smaller than the diameter of each of the optical fibers to be connected and, therefore, the light signal transmitted between the same and the optical communication device is effectively optically connected without the occurrence of light leakage via some among the plural optical fiber segments 42.
