PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inject mud neither too much nor too less, reduce the amount of mud thrust in a furnace and appropriately set injection velocity of mud in blocking a molten metal discharge port. SOLUTION: A blocking device comprises a mud gun 10 for injecting a blocking material 40 to a discharge port 32, a means 11 for starting and stopping the mud gun 10, a pressure gauge 12 for measuring pressure at a gas phase portion in a melting furnace 30, a control means 13 for driving the means 11 to stop injection of the blocking member on the basis of the value measured by the pressure gauge 12, when the pressure in the furnace has risen to a given value, and a means 14 for regulating the velocity of injecting the blocking material.
