PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spray configuration that expands a stabilized combustion zone in stratified charge combustion by providing at least a specific number of protrusions that extend toward a central axis at a fuel injection orifice portion. SOLUTION: At least one protrusion 25 that extends toward a central axis is provided at a fuel injection orifice 8 portion. According to this construction, fuel introduced from an upper part of a valve body 6 moves past an axial passageway of a fuel swirl member and a radial passageway that connects to the axial passageway to reach the fuel injection orifice 8. The radial passageway is provided eccentrically with respect to the center of axis, giving fuel a swirl force. A liquid film on an outer peripheral portion at an outlet portion of the fuel injection orifice quickly breaks causing droplets to lose momentum. The protrusion 25 cuts the flow, when air flows in a direction of a void portion from a portion of a cut liquid film. The inflow of air makes the pressure inside a spray equivalent to that surrounding it, thus generating a spray not susceptible to pressure influence.
