PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain an inorganic coating composition at a low cost, capable of forming a coating film through a low-temperature baking treatment at <=150 deg.C, giving high surface hardness to the coating film, excellent in properties such as scratch-resisting property when washed by a brush, boil-resisting, solvent-resisting, corrosion-resisting, water-resisting, chemical-resisting and crack- resisting properties (flexibility), and useful as a one-pack type composition having a wide tolerance range to be mixed with water and good aging stability for a long period. SOLUTION: This coating composition comprises (a) an akloxysilane expressed by the formula A: RnSi(OR')4-n [R is a 1-8C organic radical; R' is methyl or ethyl; (n) is 0-2], (b) a solvent soluble-type fluorine resin mainly having hydroxyl groups, (c) a solvent dispersible-type colloidal silica, and (d) a metal alkoxide, excluding silicon alkoxides and expressed by the formula B: M(OR")m [R" is a 1-4C alkyl; M is Ti, Zr or Al; (m) is 3 or 4].
