PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for control of paper feed of a picture image formation device dividing a plurality of paper feed trays into groups and switching the paper feed trays automatically by individual setting per group. SOLUTION: Whether automatic switching is possible or not is set on a plurality of paper feed trays controlled by a paper feed control part 7 per paper feed tray and is stored in a non-volatile memory part 3, whether automatic switching is possible or not is set per quality of paper and is stored in the non-volatile memory part 3, and a control part 1 determines whether automatic switching is permitted or not based on both settings to operate the paper feed control part 7.
