PURPOSE:To increase the charge imparting power to a toner to deal with the finer grain size of the toner and to increase the concn. of the toner by specifying overage grain size, the magnetization at 3,000oersteds, apparent density and sphericity. CONSTITUTION:This carrier has 15 to 50mum average grain size, 30 to 190emu/g magnetization at 3,000oersteds, 1.3 to 4.2g/cm<2> apparent density and >=80% sphericity. The average grain size of the carrier is 15 to 50mum in such a manner. The magnetization of the carrier particles is low and carrier splashing arises at <15mum. The specific surface area decreases and the toner splashing arises when the average grain size exceeds 50mum. The magnetization of 3,000oersteds is 30 to 190emu/g. The carrier is liable to splash at <30emu/g. The substantial production is possible when the magnetization exceeds 190emu/g. The apparent density is 1.3 to 4.2g. The flowability is poor at <1.3g/cm<2>. The naps of a magnetic brush are hard and the flowability is poor when the apparent density exceeds 4.2g/cm<2>.
