The electronic component encryption code counter measure technique has operations (OPN) manipulating a digital word bit by bit, providing digital output words (OPN(D)). A random value (U) is selected of the same size as the input word, and a second random number (V) calculated using an OR EXCLUSIVE gate and the input word (D). An operation is carried out on the random input and also on the second random number. The results are compared using an OR EXCLUSIVE gate and providing the output word.
