METHOD FOR MAKING A SUPPORT BAND, CORRESPONDING BAND AND USE THEREOF

The invention concerns a method for making an elastic support band (1) with limited extensibility in the longitudinal direction, which consists in longitudinally combining, in a fabric constituting said band, elastic yarns and inextensible yarns, said inextensible yarns being entirely stretched when said fabric is at its maximum elongation. The inventive method is characterised in that: (a) the elastic fabric formed with elastic yarns is a pre-existing elastic fabric; (b) said inextensible yarns are inserted in said pre-existing fabric by means of a sewing machine (2) forming stitches (4) arranged parallel to one another in the band (1) longitudinal direction, said pre-existing fabric being subjected during the stitching process to a predetermined relative elongation ( DELTA L/L). The invention is applicable to support bands used mainly in phlebology, angiology, orthopedics and for sports.
