A BIOCOMPATIBLE ADHESIVE SYSTEM AND A BIOADHESIVE DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM WITH CONTROLLABLE RELEASE
摘要
Bioadhesives and controlled release drug delivery systems were prepared from a series of starches grafted with acrylic monomers by two initiation methods: chemical and radiation. In general, the grafted starches prepared by chemical initiation with a Ce<4+>/Ce<3+> redox system showed a lower bioadhesion and released the model drugs in relatively shorter. These materials can be characterized by measuring their swelling in water and at various pH values and the molecular weight of the branched acrylic polymer grafted onto the starch can also be determined. Bioadhesives and controlled release drug delivery systems were also prepared from a series of starches from various sources grafted with acrylic acid by radiation with <60>Co. These materials had better bioadhesive and controlled drug release properties. The effect of mono- and divalent cations present in the graft copolymers indicated a particularly high potential as bioadhesive materials for oral drug delivery systems.
