The procedure for producing a final coat of paint on the body of a vehicle involves using a diluted base lacquer coating medium which contains an organic solvent corresponding to a high solid value of 40-70 per cent. The base lacquer coating after its application and before applying the transparent final coat is dried for 30-180 seconds by circulating air at 25-45 degrees C with a flow rate of 0.10-0.70 m/s.
