The appliance has a streamlined body (4) with front intake diffuser (2) and rear discharge jet (10), and a moveable working plate (6) to divide it into two chambers (a,b), which alternately generate pressure and vacuum. The plate is moved via pedals (11,13) and bars, when the swimmer bends and stretches his legs. The length of the bar is adjustable dependent upon the length of the swimmer's legs. Each chamber has a ventilator (16).
