Method of blending in image into video images, e.g. for picture-in-picture, especially for TV applications

The method involves blending in an image (EB) into a main image (HB) of several lines which is transmitted with a video signal. A new line of the main image is started with image points when a start pulse is detected in the video signal. The time between two start pulses is determined. A line of the inserted image is blended into a line of the main image, which is defined for blending in the image, after a defined number of image points from the beginning of the main image line defined by the determined time and the desired vertical position of the inserted image in the main image.
