Following manufacture, a non-detachable mark indicating the deposit transaction is applied to the recyclable object. Preferred features: The control unit records or releases the application number for the mark, which is applied in-line during manufacture, to each object. Marking is alternatively subsequent. The mark may require an auxiliary device to make it recognizable, e.g. a spectrometer. A mark of this kind, carries information on e.g. the deposit and the manufacturer. A signal-response material is applied. The mark may be removed by auxiliary means. The equipment permits application of the marks to be disengaged. Further refinements include a mark reader and/or a comparator checking the application number, and a transmitter sending data to a remote location. The mark is not detachable.
