摘要 Closed cylindrical cell height, leaves foam de-watering head space. Tangential pipe connection (2) layers raw feed over the suspension, whilst axial downcomer (4, 5) removes foam. Internal components (7) are provided for subsequent, automatic self-cleaning and disinfection by fluid. This is facilitated by internal form, which assures complete draining of fluids during production and cleaning. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method. The liquid is a wort to be clarified, cooled and aerated. It is supplied continuously. Preferred features: To provide de-watering space, there is adequate height between liquid level and downcomer edge, to cope with variable feed quality. Feed pipes at differing heights accommodate this need. The downcomer can be raised or lowered, or sections are added detachably, to alter the weir level. Internal pressure is elevated to keep microbial contamination out during flotation, and for steam disinfection. A stand pipe or inspection glass is fitted to inspect suspension level. As required, level sensors for foam and suspension, permit automatic operation. Walls and floor of the vessel, which is thermally insulated, are used to transfer heat, tempering the suspension. Automatic cleaning and disinfection are carried out after use. Finely atomized wash water sprayed on top of the foam, prevents loss of suspension with the foam. Foam enters a mechanical separator, to minimize loss of fluid volume. Heating minimizes gas dissolution in the wort; during the flotation process, a separate gas removal process is appended. Gas is recycled to aerate the product suspension.
