The invention relates to an electric machine (10) which can be operated as a motor or a generator. Said machine comprises a rotor (26a, 26b) rotatably mounted in a housing (12), a rotor shaft (24) which extends beyond the housing (12) and a plurality of electromagnet components (28) that are statically arranged in the housing at a distance from the axis of rotation of the rotor in evenly distributed angular distances. Said electromagnet components have each a wire-wound coil (30) consisting of a coil core (32) which carries one or more conductors. The pole faces of the front faces of said coil cores (32) are aligned with the pole faces of permanent magnets (27) that are statically mounted in or on the rotor. Said permanent magnets have alternating polarities along the direction of circumference. The coil cores (32) of the electromagnet components (28) are arranged in parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor shaft in the interior of the housing in such a manner that their opposite front faces lie in two planes that are spaced apart and that are in a rectangular position with respect to the rotation of axis of the rotor shaft. The ends of the electric conductors representing the wire-wound coil (30) of the individual electromagnet components (28) are interconnected via an electric or electronic control device to at least two electric connections. |
