An image from a video source uses one or more selectable image data parameters to extract defined and stored parameter. The selected image is edited based on the selected image data parameter(s) based on the assigned reference image information. The edited image is then transferred to one or more receivers. Planes (31,34) from a video signal provided by a video signal source (11) e.g. video camera are processed in a content recognition unit (30) and managed separately in logical memory planes. If an audiovisual communication takes place, according to setting by user all or individual planes are replaced with information image from a memory (22). The planes (31,32) are replaced with a reference background image and a head picture/images from storage areas (221,222) concerning background and reference head.
