The burner for building heating has the gas and air mixture (G+L) ducted through a porous plate (11) into a porous burner (10) surrounded by the coils of the heat exchanger. Coolant passed through the coils is heated and is ducted through the heating circuit. The coils are tightly wound around the heater and the tubing can be ribbed for improved heat transfer. The exhaust gases pass through the coils and are ducted away.
