PURPOSE: An apparatus for locking a belt cartridge for a printer is provided to omit inconvenience to check an insertion state of the belt cartridge and prevent erroneous mounting of the belt cartridge by selectively controlling the position of the belt cartridge according to the kind of the cartridge. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for locking a belt cartridge for a printer includes a hook element(170) having first and second elastic hooks(172,174) formed with a predetermined distance and mounted on a supporting frame movable by a bracket(140) between a first position where the first elastic hook is locked in a removing belt cartridge and a second position where the first elastic hook is released from the removing belt cartridge and the second elastic hook is locked with a mounting belt cartridge, a first pressure spring(182) for elastically compressing the hook element to the first position, and a sensing element for sensing a kind of a belt cartridge inserted into a main body of the printer for controlling the position of the hook element.
