PURPOSE: A vacuum fluorescent display is provided to stably emit a thermal electron by establishing a thermal electron emission source in a border of a board. CONSTITUTION: A vacuum fluorescent display comprises a board(30) having a predetermined pattern of a conductive layer(34), a fluorescent layer(35), a predetermined type of a container(36a), a thermal electron emission material(36b), a grid electrode(38) and a transparent front plate. The fluorescent layer is applied on the conductive layer. The container heats when a predetermined current is applied, established on a border of the board. The thermal electron emission material emits a thermal electron by the heat generated from the container, established in the container. The grid electrode collects and accelerates the thermal electron to radiate by colliding the thermal electron against a predetermined part of the fluorescent layer, established on the fluorescent layer. The transparent front plate is coupled to the board to from a free space for an electron.
