A roller assembly 22 has a roller 26 which guides a sliding panel, typically along a rail. To reduce the chance of the roller 26 being damaged on obstructions in its path, rollers mountings 28 project down to a level at least covering the roller 26. The projection of the roller 26 and mountings 28 below the panel can be adjusted by an adjusting means 30, for example screw adjusting mechanism. The adjusting means 30 pushes or pulls the roller 26 and mountings 28 within the assembly 22, which serves to raise and lower the height of the mountings 28 as they are guided by projections 34 within slots 32 set at an acute angle B to the loading of the panel on the roller assembly 22.
