<p>Olefin polymerisation process using a catalyst and a co-catalyst is characterised in that the co-catalyst is prepd. by reacting a mixt. of a Cr salt, a metal halide and an ether. Catalyst is esp. a supported Cr- or Ti-contg. catalyst, while the co-catalyst is esp. selected from Cr5(C4H4N)10(C4H8O)4; Cr(C4H4N)4; (Cr(C4H4N)4 (Na)2' 2(OC4H8); (Cr(C4H4N)5(OC4H8)); (Cr(C4H4N)5(OC4H8)) (Na)2 4(OC4H8) and mixts. of these, esp. supported on an inorganic oxide. 2-30C olefins may be used in the process, esp. ethylene, propylene, 1-butene, and or 1-hexene, most prefd. being a predominantely ethylene feed,. giving a prod. of density 0.9-0.93 g/ml. The process is pref. performed at 66-110 deg. C as a slurry polymerisation, and in the presence of H2 as accelerator.</p> |
