PURPOSE: An engine mounting insulator and a method of setting a spring constant of such insulator are provided to protect a vehicle body from an excessive vibration during turning on/off of engine and obtain an insulator having a significantly reduced size. CONSTITUTION: An engine mounting insulator comprises a rubber insulator(13) arranged between a lower bracket(11) and an upper bracket(12) and which has a predetermined spring constant for buffering a vibration of an engine, a clamping bolt(16) pressedly fit from the above of the upper bracket(12) into a center portion of the insulator(13), and a first stopper(14) and a second stopper(15) installed within the insulator(13) to be separated by a predetermined spacing centering from the clamping bolt(16), the first and second stoppers(14, 15) determining a spring constant in horizontal direction and maximum amplitude of the insulator(13). Here, the spring constant in horizontal direction is set independently of the spring constant in vertical direction.
