<p>908,344. Making filled capsules. LAVAUD, L. Dec. 31, 1958 [June 10, 1958], No. 42176/58. Class 94(1). Capsules are formed by passing webs 3 between moulds 5 which are closed upon them by rams 14 and into which they are drawn by vacuum. The contents are fed in through a tube 9. After filling, the moulds are lowered by rams 16 clear of stops 17 permitting welding means 7, 8 such as electrodes to seal the webs about the contents. Knives 11 may sever each or a chain of capsules for discharge through a conduit 12, or the members 7, 8 may incorporate cutting means. The webs may be preheated by radiant heaters 10. Capsules may have a pouring projection 22a or may be hemispherical, one of the moulds then being a flat plate. Two hemispherical moulds may operate with a flat plate between them, two webs being fed between each mould and the plate to produce two hemispherical capsules simultaneously. Alternatively if a further web is fed between them, a two compartment, capsule is formed. The moulds may form a transverse series of capsules at each operation. They may produce lettering &c. on the capusles.</p> |
