PURPOSE: An electron gun for a color cathode ray tube is provided to make a static convergence without deflecting a center of an electron beam passing hole by establishing an internal electrode inside a cup-type electrode having an electron beam passing hole with a large caliber, in which a center portion of the internal electrode is thicker than that of both sides of the internal electrode. CONSTITUTION: In an electron gun for a color cathode ray tube having a cathode, control and screen electrodes, a group of focus electrodes and a last accelerating electrode, the cathode forms a front three-electrode part. The control/screen electrodes have respective electron beam passing holes for passing the electron beam generated from the cathode. The group of focus electrodes has at least one focus electrode, established adjacent to the screen electrode. The last accelerating electrode is established adjacent to the group of focus electrodes. The at least focus electrode further comprises a cup-type electrode(23) and an internal electrode(21). The cup-type electrode includes an electron beam passing hole of a large caliber. In the internal electrode which is a plate-type electrode established inside the cup-type electrode, a section of the central electron beam passing hole is thicker than that of the outer electron beam passing hole.
