The invented crystal glass free of lead and barium exhibiting high transmission of light and suitable for manufacture of high grade glasses and other objects for households, with light transmission of at least 85 percent, index of refraction higher than 1.52, density of at least 2.45 g/cubic centimeter, Ki2O + ZnO proportion greater than 10 percent by weight, with high resistance to hydrolysis and excellent resistance to solarization contains 50 to 75 percent by weight silicon dioxide (SiOi2), 2 to 15 percent by weight sodium oxide (Nai2O), 5 to 15 percent by weight potassium oxide (Ki2O), 3 to 12 percent by weight calcium oxide (CaO), 0 to 10 percent by weight boron oxide (Bi2Oi3), 0 to 5 percent by weight aluminium oxide (Ali2Oi3), 0 to 5 percent by weight lithium oxide (Li2O), 0 to 5 percent by weight magnesium oxide (MgO, 0 to 7 percent by weight strontium oxide (SrO), 0 to 7 percent by weight zinc oxide (ZnO), 0 to 8 percent by weight titanium dioxide (TiOi2), 0 to 5 percent by weight zirconium oxide (ZrOi2), 0.1 to 5 percent by weight niobium(IV) oxide (Nbi2Oi5), 0 to 5 percent by weight tantalum(V) oxide (Tai2Oi5), 0 to 2 percent by weight fluorine F, whereby the total amount of (TiO2 + ZrOi2 + Nbi2Oi5 + Tai2Oi5) is in the range of 0.3 to 12 percent by weight and the total amount of alkali metal compounds is greater than 15 percent by weight.
