摘要 <p>The air conditioner has an inlet taking air from the room, a heat exchanger to cool the air, and an outlet to return cooled air to the room. The air outlet contains a number of rotating vanes which can be adjusted to control direction and flow rate of air returned to the room. The vanes are driven by an electric motor. Two infrared detectors measure radiation from a human in the room. One determines their distance from the air conditioner and the other their direction relative to the air conditioner. A controller uses these measurements to control the speed of the air circulation fan and the angle of the outlet control vanes.</p>
