PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescent(EL) device is provided to improve hole injection efficiency and light emitting efficiency at a lower operation voltage. CONSTITUTION: An organic EL device comprises a substrate(1), an electron injecting electrode(3), at least one organic layer(5) interleaved between the electrodes, an inorganic hole injecting layer of high resistance(4), a hole injecting electrode(2), stacked in reverse sequence. The electron injecting electrode is a thin film or a multi-layered thin film of an aluminum lithium alloy comprising 0.1 to 14 at % of lithium. The electron injecting electrode further includes a protective or auxiliary electrode is formed of aluminum for increasing electron injecting efficiency or a metal compound such as titanium for improving sealing to prevent invasion of moisture, oxygen and organic solvent. The inorganic hole injecting layer of high resistance has a resistivity of 1 to 1times10¬11ohm-cm.
