PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for automatically controlling a signal gain and level is provided to meet temporal and voltage variation by realizing functions of controlling a signal gain and level in one circuit. CONSTITUTION: An attenuator(402) reduces the amplitude of an RF signal inputted thereto. An amplifier(403) amplitudes and outputs the attenuated RF signal. A first connector extracts a signal to be inputted to the attenuator(402). A second connector extracts the amplified signal at the output thereof. In case of controlling the signal gain, a gain comparator(405) compares an RF1 signal from the first connector with an RF2 signal from the second connector to control the attenuation ratio of the attenuator(402) based on the comparison result. In case of controlling the signal level, the gain comparator(405) determines the variation of the RF2 signal to control the attenuation ratio of the attenuator(402).
