PURPOSE: An apparatus using an infrared ray reflected by a moving object is provided to turn on/off an illumination device automatically. CONSTITUTION: An automatic illuminating apparatus detects the moving object and turns on/off the switch according to the detected information. An apparatus comprises an illuminating device(6), and an automatic illuminating circuit. The automatic illuminating circuit includes a controller(1), an oscillator circuit(2), a circuit for adjusting a transmission distance(3), a surrounding light detector(4), a switching relay(5) turning on/off the power supply line, a light emitting diode(7) emitting an infrared ray, a corresponding ray detector(8) detecting the reflected ray and converting it to an electrical signal, and a power supply(9). The apparatus distinguishes daylight and night based on the surround luminous intensity detected by a light detector and the predetermined reference voltage, an infrared ray transmission distance could be adjusted. It also prevents the malfunctions of the sensors. In daylight, the controller controls the diode emission and the switching relay operation.
