PURPOSE: An automatic color compensation apparatus using a cathode ray tube and a method thereof are provided to detect the current supplied to an electron beam by using a cheap current detector. CONSTITUTION: An automatic color compensation apparatus using a cathode ray tube includes a current detector(200), a high voltage generator(120), an image amplifier(130), a bias control apparatus(140), a micro computer(180,210), and a memory(190). The current detector(200) detects the current supplied from a power supply. The high voltage generator(120) generates high voltage using the power supplied from the power supply. The image amplifier(130) controls the image gain of the electron beam based on a control signal from the high voltage generator(120). The bias control apparatus(140) controls the biasing of the electron beam based on a predetermined control signal. The micro computer(180,210) controls the image amplifies and the bias control apparatus based on the control of the micro computer. The memory(190) stores color compensation result of the micro computer.
