PURPOSE: An apparatus for muting image and voice of a speaker incorporated monitor and a method thereof are provided to detect image mute signal to use the detected signal as a voice mute signal as well. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for muting image and voice of a speaker incorporated monitor includes an image mute circuit(2), a delayer(9), and a voice mute circuit(6). The image mute circuit(2) mutes an image signal. The delayer(9) delays the mute signal of the image mute circuit for a predetermined period of time. The voice mute circuit(6) generates a voice mute signal from the delayed image mute signal from the delayer, and mutes the voice signal.
