In the present invention there is disclosed a method for control of signaling processing system for controlling a communication system transmitting information and comprising the following steps: u system of alarm processing for controlling a communication system that transmits information, whereby the invented method comprises the following steps: receiving a message of initial address of information being processed by the system, whereby the signaling processing system is external to telecommunication switches, processing the message of the initial address in the signaling processing system selection of a characteristic for transmitting information through packet communication, generating a control message in the signaling processing system identifying the selected characteristic and transmission of a control message from the signaling processing system. The apparatus (450) for processing signaling comprises an interface (460) for receiving the message of initial address and transmission of a control message, further processing means connected to the interface (460 for processing the message in the initial address for selection of a characteristic for transmission information through packet communication and for generating a control message identifying the selected characteristic.
