PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a honeycomb structure which contains active carbon and has enough strength by a method in which a mixture containing active carbon and a resin is kneaded and molded into a plate-shaped or column-shaped primary product and a honeycomb structure is formed from the primary product. SOLUTION: A mixture containing active carbon and a resin is kneaded, and a primary product is formed by extruding or pressing the kneaded mixture. The use of a fluororesin as the resin is preferable in view of water repellency, and polytetrafluoroethylene and others can be used suitably as the fluororesin. It is preferable to add 1-20 wt.% of the resin, and the addition of a water soluble polymer or a rubber molding additive is preferable in order to improve processability. In order to improve the mechanical strength of a molding, the kneaded mixture of active carbon and the resin is molded into a sheet, and a reinforcer sheet is laid between the sheets to form a sandwich structure.
