PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic finishing method capable of obtaining a coating surface having high gloss and adhesion and excellent in weatherability. SOLUTION: Base paint containing a metallic pigment is applied and topcoat paint containing the following fluorine-containing copolymer and a silane coupling agent is subsequently applied. The fluorine-containing copolymer contains (a) a fluoroolefin monomer unit, (b) a (meth)acrylic ester monomer unit and (c) an olefinic monomer unit having a hydrolyzable silyl group as essential constitutional monomer units and, on the basis of the total amt. of (a)-(c), (a) is 5-70 mol % and (b) is 20-80 mol % and (c) is 1-20 mol %. When the topcoat paint contains a partial hydrolysate of alkoxysilane, a coating surface further excellent in antistaining properties can be formed.
