PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid automatically operation continuance in an operation region undesirable on the reactor core safety with reduction of an operation load of an operator, even when the trip of a part of pumps is generated during the operation of the partial number of coolant re-circulation pumps. SOLUTION: In a boiling water reactor equipped with ten coolant re- circulation pumps 10 which are a reactor pressure vessel built-in type, for adjusting a reactor heat output by the insertion quantity of a control rod into a reactor core and by a reactor core flow rate (re-circulation flow rate of a coolant), a means for outputting a trip signal 3b, when the number 4 obtained by adding the number 1 of a part of tripped pumps to the number 3 of stopped pumps becomes larger than the prescribed value 4, during the operation of the partial number of coolant re-circulation pumps, and a means for outputting a determination value signal, when a reactor output 21 is detected and determined to be larger than an output determination value 27 set up beforehand, are installed, and a selective control rod insertion signal 4b is emitted by the outputs of both means, and insertion of the control rod is started at once.
