METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPRODUCING MULTI-CHANNEL AUDIO SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for enhancing an acoustic impression during reproduction of a multi-channel audio signal so that the quality of acoustic reproduction by an existing virtual surround system is not inferior to that by a high quality multi-channel audio system in the case of a static object or an object slowly moving in a surround channel. SOLUTION: The acoustic effect can be improved by moving a virtual surround source. The movement is conducted as a function of prescribed periodicity or of the amplitude of a forward channel signal. When a virtual position of a surround speaker is specified by filtering a backward channel signal, it can be revised by changing especially a filter parameter. Similarly, it can exclusively or additionally be executed by a different propagation delay of a backward channel signal, an amplifier or a matrix arithmetic operation.
