PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently recovering valuable metals from metallic oxides containing alkaline metals particularly produced in a production process of a secondary battery. SOLUTION: A metallic oxide containing an alkaline metal produced in a production process of a secondary battery is melted by adding a reducing agent and a slag-making agent to recover reduced and deposited valuable metals. Alternatively, an iron material, metallic oxides containing alkaline metals, the reducing agent and the slag-making agent are charged into a furnace and melted to recover the reduced and deposited valuable metals as an iron alloy.
