PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image printer capable of achieving a high speed printing process by efficiently utilizing a RAM for storing image data applied with the image development as well as by reducing the bus traffic amount. SOLUTION: In a printer controller 12, image data produced on a host computer 10 are sectioned in bands in the sub scanning direction so as to be applied with the image development in a plurality of colors as well as whether or not the band with the same image data exists in the page being developed with respect to the bands having been developed so far is judged. In the case judgment is made that the band with the same image data exists, among the bands with the same image data, only the image data of the prior band are stored in a RAM 22, and the address information. of the prior band with the same image data is recorded in the address of the latter band without storing the same image data of the latter band in the RAM 22.
