PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure superior electromagnetic transducing characteristics and traveling durability by forming a thermosetting imide-containing adhesive layer on the surface of one of heat resistant films, sticking the films together by dry laminating, forming a magnetic film on the resulting substrate and providing a prescribed shape. SOLUTION: When two or more heat resistant films such as polyimide films or polyamide films are stuck together to form a nonmagnetic substrate, a thermosetting imide resin adhesive layer is formed on the surface of one of the heat resistant films and the films are stuck together by dry laminating. The thermosetting imide is soluble in many ordinary solvents, a solution of the thermosetting imide is readily dried and bubbles are hardly generated after adhesion. Since the solution has low viscosity and can be micro-filtered, the inclusion of foreign matter is suppressed. The objective substrate having a smooth surface property and high heat resistance, less liable to warp and having high dimensional precision is formed.
