PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both an extrafine polyacrylonitrile yarn having excellent fiber division and dispersibility suitable for industrial use and material use and a sheetlike material using the polyacrylonitrile yarn. SOLUTION: This extrafine polyacrylonitrile yarn comprises an acrylonitrile homopolymer and has <=0.4 dtex fineness of single yarn, >=4.0 g/dtex tensile strength and >=10% tensile elongation. This sheetlike material comprises >=10 wt.% of the extrafine polyacrylonitrile yarn.
