PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sand for asphalt roofing whose surface is processed to improve the bondability to asphalt. SOLUTION: A mixed liquid that a silane-based coupling agent is added to an emulsion of natural resin or synthetic rubber is applied on the surface of crushed stones prepared by crushing natural sands or natural rocks and dried to obtain the sand for asphalt roofing. The mixing weight ratio of the crushed stones prepared by crusching natural sands and natural rocks to the solid part of the emulsion of a synthetic resin containing a silane-based coupling agent or synthetic rubber is set at 100: 0.15-1.0. Further, the mixed weight ratio of the solid part of the emulsion of the synthetic resin or synthetic rubber to the silane-based coupling agent is set at 1: 0.01-0.1.
