A metal article (30) contains connective coat (34) on the metal article 30) and ceramic coat (38), forming a thermal barrier on the connective coat (34). The ceramic coat (38) forming the thermal barrier contains numerous column-like granules (40), disposed perpendicularly to the surface of the metal article (30). Each column-like granule (40) has many layers (42, 44). Some layers (44) have sub-granules (48), disposed at a sharp angle to the surface of the metal article (30) to form voids (50) between nearby sub-granules (48). The voids (50) are disposed at a sharp angle to the surface of the metal article (30) and, thus, reduce specific conductivity of the ceramic coat (38), forming the thermal barrier. Some layers (42) have sub-granules (46), disposed perpendicularly to the surface of the metal article (30) to provide an erosion resistance. |
