PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a curable composition excellent in clarity, hardness, and abrasion resistance by incorporating a silica-base polycondensate obtained by the hydrolysis and polycondensation of a methacryloyloxysilane compound and a phenylsilane compound, a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate, and a polymeriza tion initiator into the same. SOLUTION: A phenylsilane compound (e.g. phenylmethoxysilane) represented by formula II is subjected to hydrolysis and polycondensation in the presence of a compound which is obtained by subjecting a methacryloyloxysilane compound represented by formula I to hydrolysis and polycondensation in the presence of colloidal silica having an average particle size of 1-100 nm, thus giving a silica-base polycondensate (A). Then, 100 pts.wt. mixture comprising 5-95 wt.% ingredient A and 95-5 wt.% polyfunctional (meth)acrylate (B) represented by formula II is compounded with 0.01-10 pts.wt. polymerization initiator and 10-500 pts.wt. filler (e.g. a silica powder), giving a curable composition. In the formulas, R1 and R6 are each H or methyl; R2 and R4 are each a 1-3C alkyl or the like: R3 and R5 are each H or a 1-10C hydrocarbon group; (p) and (r) are each 0-2; (q) is 1-6; and (m) and (n) are each 1-5.
